Update Hotel Bent

We would like to inform you about some changed plans regarding Hotel Bent. To address the concerns of the neighborhood, we have created a new drawing of the pavilion, taking into account both the concerns of the community and the feasibility of the project.

Nevertheless, we are also enthausiastic about this design. We had to say goodbye to a little socialsofa museum, the small gym, the office and the restaurant has been reduced in size. Four suites are now added.

The stylish reception lobby with hotel store, the warm atmospheric tearoom and those four extra “classy” suites overlooking the forest and fen make up for a lot.

We would love to hear your response and for questions send an email to info@hotelbent.com

Where will we build?

We will build on the plot at the corner of Vennelaan and Gemullehoekenweg, next to the deer park, still just in the light of the village. You cross the road there and you are at the van Esschenven. One of the most beautiful fens of Oisterwijk with small islands and a winding path around the entire fens.

What are we going to build?

Two buildings that collectively form the Mosaic Boutique Hotel. The hotel will have eight rooms and two suites. A bit stately, romantic, touch of urban glamour, some art and lots of things we like very much ourselves

Nothing animal-based is used in construction, no feathers in the quilts or leather-upholstered furniture. All dishes are plant-based, too!

How will it be built?

Our goal is to construct the most sustainable building possible with the smallest possible ecological footprint. We are going to construct the buildings in prefabricated wood frame construction. Wood construction is basically a CO2 storage in which you also happen to be able to stay comfortably. The baked building materials like brick and roof tiles will be recycled materials taken from a currently existing building. Also, solar panels, a heat pump and green roofs. We are going to try to be as close to energy neutral as possible and hope to become completely so in the future.

The Garden

In the outdoor area we want to restore nature, it is now a bare field. We will decorate the garden with a variety of trees and plants that belong in this nature reserve. The building will be covered with climbing plants so that it blends in with nature. After all, the building is a guest at this location. The front garden will have a terrace with mosaic objects and the courtyard will be a summer terrace.

Colors of Bent

Color map Hotel Bent Right across from Hotel Bent is the Van Esschenven. One of the beautiful fens of Kampina & Oisterwijkse vennen, a Natura 2000 area. We want the hotel to blend into nature as much as possible. Apart from the choice of materials, the choice of color is just as important. For this we made a color analysis of Het Esschenven. We first mapped out the nature and surroundings. Together with a forester and with the permission of Natuurmonumenten, we were allowed to take the most characteristic leaves, bark, plants, flowers and berries from the forest for our color research in order to create an archive of plant-based pigments. Extracting the colors from the plants is a process of boiling down until a drape is formed and allowing it to dry into pigment powders. Below is an impression of our color archive.

ABOUT DO ME A DISTANT FRIEND

It is the construction and start of Hotel Bent. A boutique hotel with restaurant on an exceptionally beautiful green spot in the pearl of Brabant, Oisterwijk, Natura 2000. The owner is the activist writer, former member of the Comedytrain, theater producer and godmother of Socialsofa, Karin Bruers. Together with her daughters, she will build and run this special project. Special because it is driven by glamour activism. Activities through which they seek to bring change and awareness to their community on environmental and animal suffering issues. But not everything is about roses. There are sustainable dilemmas they face. How will 0 emissions be shaped, will only electric cars be allowed and what should they do with the guests’ other cars, the budget which cannot be exceeded and will the schedule be met? But the biggest hurdle to overcome is the incredible opposition of a large old school hospitality establishment that this small-scale sustainable initiative is being built next to.
